Children Swallowing Tiny Detergent Packets

Hundreds of American children have swallowed miniature laundry detergent packets after confusing them with candy.

Poison control centers say nearly 250 cases have been reported so far this year, with children suffering symptoms such as nausea and breathing problems, according to the Associated Press.

I'm not a writer ...
I don’t like writing letters to people I know, much less people I’ve never met. I’m not a joiner. I’m not good at small talk. I’ve never liked having my picture taken. I’m most comfortable taking care of my family and home, minding my own business. That’s the way I was raised. Who am I that anyone should care what I think? Facebook http://facebook.com/SighPhi and Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/dmmckinney are not my bag. I find Twitter especially annoying.

However, since the advent of global communication, my kids being old enough to mind themselves and my becoming a stay-at-home-grandmother, I’ve realized that we’ve been taken advantage of. While Joe and Jane Q Public were doing the good citizenship thing our “government” was, more or less covertly, hijacked right out from under us. I’m sure there are others out there who have, for whatever reasons, not picked up on how monstrous the situation truly is at this point. Every time I think it couldn’t be worse, I’m presented with facts and figures even more grotesque.

Now I feel it’s my duty to spend every spare moment trying to get the word out and help wake up my fellow citizens. I have children and grandchildren who have to live here and pay for our involuntary negligence toward our freedom. It’s the least I can do for them.
